Our Story

Who We Are

We’re Nate and Carolyn Miller, and together we own The Red Truck Flower Farm. We’re a family of four, six including our family dog (Miller Miller) and bunny (Bandit) you see in our logo. We, along with our sons Landon (13) and Gavin (12), believe there is something special about getting our hands dirty and working close to the land. We believe we can plant seeds in the right soil, water the correct amount, and do everything right but it’s not us that make seeds grow, that’s still a miracle. Since 2019, Nate has been taking flowers into work as a nurse to share with friends and coworkers (we’re so grateful for all of your encouragement!). During the summer of 2021, he realized the department down the hall had a new bouquet of flowers every week. Upon investigation, he learned about flower subscriptions and the concept of a flower farm was born in our minds. We made it our goal to grow our own flowers and design bouquets that at least rivaled those he saw in that adjacent department. Those experiences, along with tons of support from family and friends, are how we got our start. Today, we grow at our home in Perry and off site in Madison.

We still believe in hard work! Often required are early mornings, late nights, and putting in the effort to get the results we’re looking for. We believe in overcoming challenges and being wise stewards of the resources that have been entrusted to us. Our sons are very active in our business and can often be found at markets with us. They plant, cut, and design right along with us in our home. Even though we are first generation flower growers, we come from significant growing experience from aunts, uncles, and grandparents who we have greatly benefitted from. Nate’s grandparents relied heavily on farming to provide food on the table while raising large families here in Northeast Ohio. Farming may have skipped a family generation, but we see this as getting back to our family roots. These loved ones, along with so much support from our parents, have given us a firm foundation to bloom from.

Our Farm Name

Since 2018, Nate has created chalk art on the windows at a hospital for a fundraiser that benefits a family in need at Christmas. In every piece of art created, he included a vintage red pick-up truck. The one time he attempted to skip the red truck, it didn’t go over so well, and he ended up going back and adding it. This made it an easy decision when choosing a name for our business, The Red Truck Flower Farm.
